The North Carolina Department of Transportation intends to widen Fire Tower Road between Charles Boulevard and 14th Street. This work will include widening the roadway from two lanes to four, and installing a raised median. Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
